He didn't present MOTD this weekend. That 400k figure refers to the live FA cup match, and comparing that to MOTD is a bit apples and oranges.

Haha!

They pay him all that money and he's actually a massive turn off for almost half a million people.

MOTD had a drop of 400,000 viewers from last week's episode,

Gary really does justify his salary....

Seems people would rather have silence.

As is often the case, what seemed quite black and white for some turns to grey very quickly. Certainties turn to ifs and buts.

It is understood that Saturday's rugby coverage of England v France was at one stage under real pressure as the boycott escalated, but that commentator Ian Dennis’s decision to go on air for Five Live radio “halted the domino effect” that had already seen most of the day's football coverage scrapped.

“Ian Dennis was praised for his bravery but the treatment he was then subjected to, branded a scab on social media, was appalling,” the source said. “Management did little to support those who stood up against going on strike.”
Barbara Slater, the head of sport, was said to look “visibly worn out” over the past few days .
A BBC insider said it would be harsh if Ms Slater ended up being “thrown under the bus for a decision that wasn’t hers”.
However, other BBC sources have highlighted how Ms Slater has taken the editorial direction towards “talent over journalists” in recent years. There is a strong feeling among some that the corporation indulges freelancers who have different rules versus staff journalists.

Re: Pentonville
Far from being united behind Lineker, who is paid £1.35m by the BBC, it is understood that at the meeting on Tuesday several BBC sport support staff members spoke out against the presenter.

A source told The Telegraph: “There was a sliding scale of anger among the rank and file between BBC management and Lineker. Someone even said that multi-millionaire presenters are now drawing the picket lines and expecting everyone else to join in.

“One person pointed out that Gary had breached the social media guidelines before and been reprimanded for it, so what did he expect this time.”

“There was a lot of anger directed at the management for the way they have dealt with the crisis. But there was also anger directed at Lineker, not for his political view but because of how it has affected people's jobs.”

Except what everyone that’s a bit woke forgets about what was said by Nazis in 1930’s Germany, was about their own Jewish citizens.

Not illegal migrants deciding to come to UK for housing and benefits in front of UK citizens. Just the usual woke bollocks where everyone actually thinks Lineker is right. He wasn’t. He was being his usual champagne socialist while trying to avoid paying for illegal immigrants through his own personal taxation

Re: Pentonville
He's literally called the governent out on a questionable stance on immigration - and pointed out what has been confirmed by PEOPLE WHO WERE FUCKING THERE - this rhetoric is "similar" to that of pre war Germany

Can't imagine there are many (if any) people alive, from pre war Germany.

'Who was trying to demonstrate intelligence?'

I don't know. Who said anyone was trying to demonstrate it? You managed to demonstrate something, though, deliberately or not.

Re: MOTD
Not bothered about Lineker's personal stuff, nor his tax returns. The only thing that matters here is impartiality at the BBC, involving the highest paid face of it.

I'm fine with the BBC becoming a purely left wing voice if it scraps the licence fee, but it's hypocritical to support and excuse Lineker's political hyperbole whilst calling for the Director-General to resign for trying to implement impartiality guidelines.

All these years being on this site - and I always fucking hated Stewart Lee

I quite like him now

Attitudes change funny

Takes longer for others to admit they’ve been wrong about something in the past to which they once held true

I like it when a poster demonstrates his level of intelligence by using CAPITAL LETTERS to misspell stuff.
